Microlaserpeel: Younger looking skin with minimal downtime by New York Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Beraka

The trend today in cosmetic surgery is towards minimally invasive procedures with no scarring and quick or no recovery. The problem is that for a lot of procedures, "minimally invasive" also means "minimally effective". Some techniques and instruments widely promoted for aging skin do not produce visible improvement in scientific studies.

That's what makes the Microlaserpeel with the Contour laser so useful. You see real improvement in your skin in just a few days.

We believe that the Contour laser is the best available laser for the correction of wrinkles and pigmentation. Microlaserpeel is performed with the Contour laser set at the appropriate individualized energy settings so that only the outermost layer of the skin is removed. This precise control of the depth of peeling is what permits such quick healing.

We apply topical anesthetic cream to your skin for thirty minutes before the procedure.
The Microlaserpeel itself takes about half an hour. After the treatment, ointment is applied to the skin for two days and this is followed by a moisturizer.

The typical patient has the Microlaserpeel on Thursday or Friday and goes back to work on Monday. On the third day, the skin may still look somewhat sunburned but this is easily covered with makeup.

This is the minimum recovery time that will give you visible improvement. Other laser treatments or light treatments with "no downtime at all" tend to produce minimal results even after several repeated treatments and it may take months to see any results. [The exception to this rule is the Thermage treatment. Thermage is very effective and has no downtime but it is useful to tighten skin, not for the correction of wrinkling and pigmentation.]

You can expect smoother, healthier looking skin after the Microlaserpeel and the result should last at least a year. Most women need only one treatment but Microlaserpeel can be repeated for further improvement.

The Microlaserpeel is ideal for the woman who wants better results than you get from microdermabrasion or light chemical peels but who does not have time for prolonged healing.
