Microsuction of The Ankles and Calves
Women who have liposuction of the calves and ankles are surely among our happiest and most grateful patients. They have spent years hiding their legs in pants, long skirts and boots. Now suddenly they are in shorts, miniskirts, strappy sandals and kitten heels.
Thousands of women are ashamed of their "piano legs" or "tree trunks." Some people call them "cankles" because you can not tell where the ankle ends and the calf begins. Some women are tortured by this problem. But most do not know that this can be corrected safely and effectively. There is almost no information on the lower legs when you look up the topic of liposuction. Nobody talks about it. So here are some facts.
- Our patients are women from 18 to 45.
- This is a delicate area and meticulous technique is very important.
- The key to success is to use very tiny liposuction cannulas. That is why it is called microsuction.
- Women are most bothered by their ankles and by the view from the back. So we concentrate on these areas, but liposuction is done all around the legs. Often, the outer calves need to be sculpted down.
- We slim down the knees at the same time.
- You have microsuction of the calves and ankles as an outpatient in our accredited surgical suite.
- It is important to wear compression stockings after microsuction of the lower legs to prevent swelling. You wear the stockings all the time for the first week and
only when you are out of bed for the next three weeks.
- It is best not to do this in the summer because of the compression stockings.
- You are comfortable walking after two days.
- We get significant improvement in the ankles in every patient, and often the result is dramatic.
