Facial Surgery Procedures
The following are the Facial Surgery Procedures Performed in Manhattan, New York by Dr. Beraka:
The Youthful Plateau:
Some people start correcting signs of aging in their early thirties and some wait until their fifties. In general, the results are better and longer lasting in younger patients. If a patient starts relatively young and undergoes a procedure (sometimes a fairly minor one) every few years, it is possible to maintain a youthful appearance from the thirties well into the fifties. This is referred to as the 20 or 30 year youthful plateau.
What's special about my approach to cosmetic facial surgery:
My highest priority is to leave the patient looking fresher without any pulled, tight, windswept, or artificial look. The spirit and the expression of the face must remain intact. The result must be natural.
Most people don't realize that it is primarily the shape and volume of the face that makes it look young. A face can be free of wrinkles and still look old if it is flat and hollow.
The most important determinants of a youthful, fresh, vigorous appearance are:
- a clean jaw line and a thin smooth neck.
- high, full cheeks
- a smooth lower eyelid
- A short upper lip with the upper teeth showing. (If the lower teeth show, the face looks old.)
The study of portrait paintings of great artists clearly show the progression from youth to age. One has first to visualize a youthful, attractive appearance in order to create it in the patient. In a simple way, you can think of the youthful face as heart-shaped. With age, it becomes a rectangle and eventually an upside-down heart.
