RESTYLANE®, JUVEDERM®, RADIESSE® IN NEW YORK CITY BY DR. BERAKA

• There are many fillers available. We have found that three fillers are the safest and most effective: Juvederm®, Restylane®, and Radiesse®
• Each of these fillers is good for a different part of the face, and each is effective to correct a different cosmetic problem.
• With these three fillers, you only need one treatment, and you see immediate results.
• But which filler you get is not the most important thing. The skill and the good eye of your doctor is most important in creating a good result and avoiding lumps.
• I use anesthetic nerve blocks inside the mouth (like your dentist uses) before injecting fillers. This way, you have no pain, and I can take my time to sculpture the best contour. The nerve block works in 5 minutes and by the time you leave our office it has worn off.
• With gentle technique and tiny needles, there is usually no down time after getting fillers. Very few patients do have some bruising for 2 or 3 days, which can be covered with makeup.
• All of these fillers are very safe and cause no allergic reaction. Problems are caused by bad injection technique, not by the filler itself.

• Juvederm® is a great hyaluronic acid filler that I use to restore soft tissue volume. It is injected under the skin and it lasts at least 9 months.
• Cheeks. As we age, we lose volume in our upper face. The young face looks like a heart, and the aging face looks like an upside down heart. To look young, you need your cheeks to look round and full. Juvederm® is very effective in achieving this fullness.
• Deep nasolabial folds are corrected with Juvederm®.
• As we age, we develop dents on either side of the chin, between the chin and the jowls (pre-jowl sulcus). These dents make the lower face look older. Juvederm® fills these dents to restore a cleaner jawline, and to "hide" the jowls.

• Restylane® is the most forgiving hyaluronic acid filler and it can be injected more superficially that Juvederm®.

AROUND THE EYES:

• Restylane® corrects the hollows around the eyes that come with aging. This is an area where good technique is particularly important.
• The hollow tear trough area under the eyes is filled in and smoothed out with Restylane®.
• A less well known use of Restylane® is under the brows. Filling this area corrects the empty look that some women develop in their upper eyelids.
• Around the eyes, Restylane® lasts over a year. It must be used in small amounts and only under the muscle.

AROUND THE MOUTH:

• Superficial nasolabial folds.
• Marionette line.
• Lines around the mouth.
• These areas are well corrected with Restylane®. Because there is so much movement around the mouth, Restylane® here lasts only about 6 months.

• We do not use Radiesse® under the skin anymore because Juvederm® produces the most consistent smooth results. Radiesse® is very useful deep, near the bone, to increase volume in the cheekbone and around the chin. Radiesse® lasts about one year.
