• Women who are dissatisfied with the size of their breasts and wish to be larger.
• Women whose breasts have shrunk because of pregnancy or weight loss.
• Women who have mild to moderate breast sagging. Breast augmentation provides additional needed fullness.
• Correction of Breast Asymmetry- women who have one breast smaller than the other have a breast augmentation of the smaller breast.
• If you already had a breast augmentation and are not satisfied, the results can usually be significantly improved.

What's special about my approach:

• I make sure your breasts look NATURAL after breast augmentation. If the breasts are too high and full on top, they look fake. If the breasts don't move after breast augmentation, they don't look real. These things can be avoided. Before the end of the operation, I place the patient into a sitting position on the operating table. When you are in this upright position, I can check that your breast do in fact look natural and symmetrical.
• I perform MINIMAL SCAR breast augmentation.
• I perform endoscopic breast augmentation. The tissues are projected on the video monitor and the incisions can be kept tiny.
• I only perform procedures that are safe and approved. Therefore, I do not do breast augmentation surgery through the belly-button.
• Breast augmentation for severe sagging is not a good choice. Women ask for this because they want to avoid scars but this approach actually creates a deformity. If you have a lot of sagging, you need a mastopexy (breast lift) or a combined breast augmentation-mastopexy.
• We use several different methods to make sure you get the size you want. We show you many breast photographs so you can pick the look you like. We also place different breast sizers inside your bra so you can see the effect of different implant sizes.

The Procedure:

The highest priority in breast augmentation surgery is to have the breasts look natural. The implant can be placed either under the breast tissue or under the pectoral muscle. The majority of breast augmentation patients have implants placed under the muscle. Most women can be exactly the size they want.

Scars: The scars from a properly performed breast augmentation are minimal. I use fiberoptic and endoscopic techniques to keep the scars very short. The scars can be placed in the armpit, in the fold under the breast or just under the nipple. I individualize my approach depending on each patient's anatomy and her preference. The scars fade with time.

Breast augmentation can be done in our fully accredited office surgical suite (please allow link to page on surgical suite) or in a hospital. It is always on an out-patient procedure under light anesthesia.

Implant Choices:

• I am one of the silicone breast implant investigators and therefore I can offer selected patients a choice between silicone implants and saline implants. I will tell you which one I think is best for you.
• Most breast augmentations are currently performed with saline implants, which are implants filled with saline or physiologic salt water.
• Implants come with different shapes and surfaces and I select the best implant for each patient based on her anatomy and on what she wants.
• If you are undergoing a simultaneous breast lift or if you currently have implants that you want replaced, then we have the option of using silicone implants. I will tell you which one I think is best for you.
• Both saline and silicone implants have been determined to be entirely safe.

Implant Facts:

1. Implants can leak. The risk of leaking is very low for the first ten years, but you may need to have your implants replaced because of leaking sometime in the future.
2. Implants may occasionally become slightly firm. This process is called capsular contracture, and typically it does not bother the patient.
3. Postoperative mammograms must be done by a specialist mammographer since special views are needed.

Nipple Sensation and Breast Feeding:

Breast augmentation does not interfere with nipple sensation or the capacity to breast-feed.

Recovery Time After Breast Augmentation Surgery:

• You will have some swelling and perhaps a little bruising for a few days. After the first week, you may resume your normal activities including sexual relations.
• Most patients take three or four days off from work.
• Vigorous athletic activity such as dance or aerobic classes should be avoided for two weeks after breast augmentation surgery.
